SUBJECT:
Use of the Department of Education Student Information System
It has come to our attention that some School Readiness Coalitions have made the decision to discontinue use of the
Department of Education Student Information System for public school operated school readiness programs. This
decision has been made given the requirements to use the Enhanced Field System (EFS) for all children enrolled in
school readiness programs.
If a school district is providing school readiness services via the local school readiness coalition, information
regarding the children served in the district operated readiness programs must be entered in the Student Information
System.
Maintaining current student records in the school district’s information system will facilitate future
reporting of information, including the analysis of the results of the School Readiness Uniform Screening System.
