Conference Information
The Florida Department of Education, the Florida Association of
Instructional Supervisors and Administrators (FAISA) and the Florida
Association of School Administrators (FASA) invite you to
participate in the 6th Annual Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
Leadership Conference. This annual, one of a kind conference,
will attract over six hundred education curriculum, instruction and
assessment professionals from throughout the state. This is an
opportunity for you to meet with your colleagues, DOE personnel
and educational product representatives in an environment that
facilitates the sharing of ideas and successful strategies among
practicing educators.
Refund Policy
You must notify FASA in writing no later than December 18, 2002
if you wish to cancel your conference registration. There will be a
$30 administrative processing fee deducted from your final refund.
After December 18, 2002 no refunds will be issued.
Exposition
The Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Leadership Conference
will offer the latest information on educational products and services.
Over ninety exhibitors will be available to show you their newest
products and materials as well as answer your questions. Discover
new trends in curriculum resources, instructional materials and
assessment technologies through hands-on demonstrations and
candid conversations with educational product representatives.
DOE Exhibits that feature DOE Programs and Offices, as well as
the Educational Technology Lab will be located in the Exhibit Hall
area.

Mark Hotel is conveniently located in Daytona Beach, Florida
at 100 North Atlantic Avenue. From I-4, take Highway 92
East to A1A, turn left on A1A, travel one mile and the
Adam’s Mark Hotel is on the right.

to receive the discounted conference rate of

single/double occupancy. It is anticipated that the room
block will be filled on or before the cut-off date of Decem-
ber 18. Please make your room reservations as soon as
possible. Room reservations made after December 18, 2002
will be accepted on a space available basis and the group rate
may not apply. Check-in time is after 4:00 p.m. and checkout
time is 12:00 p.m.
Complimentary parking is available diagonally across the street
from the Adam’s Mark Hotel. Parking is also available at the
current rate of $5 per day in the city parking garage across the
street from the Hotel. Self parking is available in the North
Tower of the hotel for $6 per day. Valet parking is available at
$10 per day.

Harry K. Wong’s presentations result in positive audience behavior
change. He leaves his audiences with practical, useful techniques
for how to succeed in the classroom. His expertise is in classroom
management and student motivation. In his over 33 years in the
classroom, he developed methods that caused him to have no
discipline problems, have zero dropout rate, have a 95%
homework turn-in factor and the ability to demonstrate mastery
learning for each of his students. Harry Wong’s presentation is

Jay McTighe is well known for his work with “thinking skills,”
having coordinated statewide efforts to develop instructional
strategies, curriculum models, and assessment procedures for
improving the quality of student thinking. He is author of several
journal articles and books on assessing learning, performance
assessment, educational leadership, and thinking skills; including
Understanding by Design
. Having been a classroom teacher, resource
specialist, program coordinator, and state consortium director,
McTighe brings a wealth of experience to his presentations.
