SUBJECT:
District Annual Waiver Reports
Pursuant to Section 229.592 (9)(a)(2), Florida Statutes, every school board is
required to report annually to the Commissioner of Education the number of
waivers requested by school advisory councils, the number of such waiver
requests approved and submitted to the Commissioner for approval, and the
number of state waiver requests not approved and not submitted to the
Commissioner of Education. For each waiver request not approved, the school
board is to report the statute or rule for which the waiver was requested, the
rationale for the school advisory council request, and the reason the request
was not approved.
Please copy and complete the two forms attached with the information
described above for all waiver requests from your district for last school year
(2001-2002) and fax or mail both forms to:
Bureau of School Improvement and Educational Flexibility
Department of Education
325 W. Gaines Street, Room 424
Tallahassee, FL 32399-0400
Due to changes in the school code, information on the new waiver policies will
be sent to districts soon.
