RE:
Managing
Mentors,
Tutors and Other Volunteers
The Governor’s Mentoring Initiative and the Florida Association of PARTNERS in
EDUCATION are pleased to offer regional workshops to assist Florida’s schools in
managing community volunteers who mentor and tutor students.
Many Florida districts
provide annual training for coordinators of volunteers, mentors and tutors. This is
an opportunity for schools who have not received this training or for those who
desire a refresher course
. District and school coordinators of volunteer programs,
coordinators of mentoring and tutoring programs in schools and managers of community
based mentoring programs are invited to participate in whichever workshop is closest or
most convenient.
These fun, interactive workshops provide participants with a comprehensive toolkit that
includes a manual and CD to assist those who coordinate volunteers, mentors and tutors.
The emphasis of the workshops will be focused on developing critical management,
recruitment, training, recognition and evaluation strategies. School district personnel
who have implemented the toolkit report their programs are more successful. Trainings
will provide opportunities for networking and sharing with other coordinators in the
Region.
These half-day workshops will be held around the state from October 29– November 15,
2002. Lunch will be provided. Fax the attached registration form to the regional
workshop coordinator by October 23. A confirmation of your registration will be faxed
to you.
