    13. SUBJECT: HIGH SCHOOLS ACCEPTED TO IMPLEMENT FLORIDA’S 12TH GRADE COLLEGE SUCCESS ACADEMIES
    14. It is with great pleasure that we announce the 21 high schools who have applied and been accepted to implement Florida’s 12th grade College Success Academies. The schools, supported by their districts and partner Florida College System institutions, will provide students with an opportunity to satisfy remediation requirements to enter college credit courses as determined by scores on an approved, postsecondary readiness test prior to high school graduation. With support from the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), teachers from these high schools and their partnering colleges will work together to provide students with instruction that is directly aligned with the skills that students need to be successful in college-level coursework. The 12th grade College Success Academies will include the following semester secondary courses: Mathematics for College Success (course #1200410), Reading for College Success (course #1008350), and Writing for College Success (course #1009370). In addition, the following dual enrollment/postsecondary courses will be available to participating students: Intermediate Algebra (course # MAT 1033) and a Student Life Skills course (course prefix SLS). Successful students will graduate high school prepared to step onto college campuses.
    15. Thanks to the district superintendents, high school principals, and partner colleges for supporting this effort and their students—all will benefit. We hope that the 2011-2012 school year will be just the beginning and that many more 12th grade College Success Academies will follow your lead.
