DATE: August 5, 2010
SUBJECT: 2010 SUS Regional Admissions Workshops
On behalf of the State University System (SUS) admission directors, I would like to
cordially invite middle and high school guidance counselors to attend one of the
regional admissions workshops scheduled around the state in fall 2010. This is the 25th
year for these regional workshops, and attendance in the past has been excellent. Eight
universities will host workshops for their respective regions. SUS admissions directors
value this opportunity to meet with counselors throughout the state to provide
information and answer questions. This year, we are glad to announce that College
Board and ACT are assisting us by providing breakfast and lunch, respectively.
In addition to the university admissions directors and representatives from the testing
agencies, it is anticipated that representatives from the Department of Education
Division of Public Schools, Division of Florida Colleges, Florida Virtual School,
FACTS.org, and Bright Futures will be participating in the workshops.

We strongly encourage guidance counselor participation in one of these workshops.
The intention of the workshops is to inform middle and high school guidance
counselors of the various policies and procedures affecting students as they advance
through the K-20 system. Time will be set aside to allow for specific questions about
SUS admissions and other postsecondary education topics.
The locations and dates in the attached schedule were planned to make the workshop
accessible to educators across the state. There is no registration fee. Guidance
counselors should register as soon as possible, because some sites fill up faster than
others. Counselors may refer to the attached schedule of workshops to determine
which site will be the most convenient to attend. Once a workshop reaches maximum
capacity, participants will need to register for a different site.
Only those registering
will be allowed to attend in order to ensure that we have a place for everyone.
For workshop registration, schedule, and other workshop information, please visit
http://www.flbog.org/admissionstour. Counselors will receive a confirmation of their
registration once they have completed the process. Check-in will start at 7:30 a.m., and
presentations will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m.
These meetings are an integral part of the State's effort to encourage and support
postsecondary participation for Florida’s students. Thank you for all you do for the
students in our state. If you have any questions or need additional information, please
e-mail admissionstour@flbog.org or call Lynda Page or Marion Merzer at (850) 245-
0466.
