2003-2004 Estimated Private Contributions for State Matching

In order to provide information to the Governor’s Office and legislative staff, we

recently surveyed the college foundations to provide us with an estimate of the

private contributions to be requested for state matching by February 1, 2003. The

attached chart lists the expected amounts by college and matching program.

 

The foundations were advised to include any private contributions that had not

been previously matched. The amount that the Division will provide to legislative

staff for planning purposes for the Dr. Philip Benjamin Matching Grant Program is

$40,187,306. In the prior year, the amount of the request to be matched for the

three separate programs was $28,201,885.

 

Also, we have included a chart of the estimate of the 2003-2004 Facility

Enhancement Challenge Grant Program request for matching in the amount of

$27,604,500. Last year the appropriation for this program was $10,278,363.

 

Plans are to request a final certification of private contributions in early February

at which time the legislative staff will be informed of the new requests for state

matching. We will notify you of the amount when the report is finalized.
