SUBJECT: Cut Scores for Duke Talent Search Program

The Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP) identifies and supports high achieving students
nominated by parents and school personnel. TIP has used scores from the norm-referenced
testing to determine eligibility for students in Florida. Following the legislative decision to
eliminate these state tests, the Department of Education’s Office of Assessment has provided the
    chart below to provide 95
    th
percentile cut scores for both scale scores and developmental scale
scores (DSS) in Reading and Mathematics for use in making decisions based on FCAT data.
Rising fifth graders would reference 2008 Grade 5 FCAT-NRT scores. The purpose of TIP is to
identify high achieving children and help them to reach their full potential. Children are
identified in 4th/5th grade and/or in 7th grade. More information regarding TIP is available at
    www.tip.duke.edu.
