2000-2001 and 2001-2002 Matching Programs Expenditure Reports

DUE DATE: September 30, 2002

Legislative staff, in recent years, has requested that we supply “hard” data (as opposed to

strictly anecdotal) that shows the number and types of students we are serving through the

college matching programs. They suggested that the provision of “hard” data would aid

in the continued expansion of matching programs. Therefore, I am requesting that you

complete the attached surveys/reports for 2000-2001 and 2001-2002. The reports are

Excel spreadsheets containing two parts.

Part 1 is an Excel file separated by matching program and by approved fund use.

Please complete the fund source information and provide a brief description of the

use of the funds.

Part 2 is also an Excel file providing information on Scholarship Awards. Please

complete (1) the number of awards separating part-time and full-time; (2) the

amount of the awards separating part-time and full-time; and (3) the number of

awards and amount of awards based on financial need.

Legislative staff and their members are still enthused about the ability of our programs to

provide an ongoing source of financial aid for all types of students. They are aware of the

growth of our matching programs in recent years and view the programs as a flexible and

stable way to meet the financial needs of a broad array of students.

I believe that it is important for us to collect and provide this type of information to the

Legislature and other interested parties. We do a tremendous job with our matching

programs, and this data will help document and demonstrate the success of our programs,

particularly in the area of financial aid.
