Technical Assistance for 2008-09 Reading Data Reporting

The Just Read, Florida! Office is collaborating with the Bureau of Education Information and

Accountability Services (EIAS) in the Department of Education on the reporting of certain data

elements required by the K-12 Comprehensive Reading Plan (as indicated in s.1001.215, F.S.)

within the Automated Student and Staff Data Base System. The intended audience for this

technical assistance includes reading supervisors and Management Information Systems (MIS)

directors.

Training was conducted in June for the district MIS directors by Laurie Lee, Middle School

Reading Specialist with Just Read, Florida! and Dr. Ruth Jones, Director, Education Information

Services. The PowerPoint they presented is attached. Also attached is a question and answer

document that is designed to assist district contacts when responding to school based data entry

questions. Further attachments include a list of MIS directors, Appendices I and L, survey dates, a

sample report, and three elements (Reading Intervention Component element, Reading Fluency, and

the Reading Endorsement Competency 1).
