: 2002-03 Regional Train-the-Trainer Workshops for
Meaningful Participation: Planning
Instruction for Students with Significant Disabilities

We are pleased to announce four regional train-the-trainer workshops for
Meaningful Participation: Planning
Instruction for Students with Significant Disabilities.
The
Meaningful Participation
workshop was developed by
the Accommodations and Modifications for Students with Disabilities Project and the Florida Inclusion Network. It
is a one-day workshop that provides tools and strategies for designing an effective instructional program for students
with significant cognitive disabilities. While the workshop emphasizes planning instruction in general education
environments, the methods described may be applied across educational settings.
The target audience for the
Meaningful Participation
train-the-trainer workshops includes personnel who provide
training for exceptional student education. Each train-the-trainer workshop will be limited to 30 participants.
Preference will be given to FDLRS Associate Center staff and district staff who provide training in exceptional
student education on a regular basis. Replicable training packets will be provided to all participants. Those who
attend the train-the-trainer workshops will learn how to present the
Meaningful Participation
workshop to teachers
and others who work with students with significant cognitive disabilities.
Persons who wish to attend a train-the-trainer workshop should complete a registration form and send it to the
contact person listed. Participants who need assistance with travel expenses may explore options through their
school district or local FDLRS center, the Florida Inclusion Network, or the Institute for Small and Rural Districts
(if eligible).
If you need further information, please contact Jan McKay, Accommodations and Modifications for Students with
Disabilities Project at the Center for Performance Technology, Florida State University (phone: 850-921-0695;
email: jmckay@cpt.fsu.edu).
