      10. Prior to the beginning of each fiscal year, each district school board is required to adopt an annual calendar to be observed by all schools under the board’s jurisdiction. Rule 6A-10.019, FAC, stipulates that the approved calendar must be filed with the Department of Education and describes the objectives to be supported by the school calendar. Also, Section 1001.42(4)(f), Florida Statutes, sets the start date as no earlier than 14 days before Labor Day beginning with the 2007-08 school year.
      11. To assist your district in complying with Rule 6A-10.019, FAC, the Bureau of Education Information and Accountability Services is responsible for collecting these calendars. Please fax (850-245-9097) or forward a copy of your official school calendar(s) for 2008-09 by May 30, 2008, to the Bureau of Education Information and Accountability Services, 325 West Gaines Street, Room 852, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0400, Attention: Bethany Wester.
      12. Enclosed is ESE Form 377, District School Calendar Information Supplement, which provides a format for reporting certain important dates that may not be specified on your district’s calendar(s). Review this supplement and return, if applicable, with a copy of your official school calendar(s). Please include all year-round school names, tracks, and dates with intersession periods.
