APPROVAL REQUIREMENTS FOR TEACHER PREPARATION AND
SCHOOL LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS
Since the revisions to Rule 6A-5.066 and Rule 6A-5.081, F.A.C., many of you and your faculty and staff
have been working diligently to shift the focus of your existing programs that prepare teachers and school
leaders from compliance measures to performance outcomes. We acknowledge that hard work and are
pleased to announce the availability of resources and tools to assist you in documenting your program
revisions for submission to the Department of Education.
For Initial Teacher Preparation Programs offered under Rule 6A-5.066, F.A.C., resources are located at
www.teachinflorida.com by selecting the “Preparation” tab. For programs that lead to certification in
Educational Leadership and School Principal offered under Rule 6A-5.081, F.A.C., resources may be
found at the same site or by logging on to www.floridaschoolleaders.org, the Department’s site for the
William Cecil Golden Professional Development Program for School Leaders.
