During the 2001-02 school year, 49
percent of students with disabilities,
ages 6-21, spent 80 percent or more of
their school week with non-disabled peers.
During the 2001-02 school year, six
percent of students with disabilities, ages
three through five, received all of their
specially designed education and related
services in educational programs designed
primarily for children without disabilities
or in their home.
Improvement Strategies
Increase student participation in the general
education curriculum by:
continuing to support and expand
initiatives that provide resources for
schools to implement service delivery
models and effective instructional
strategies that promote successful
participation in the general education
curriculum
providing training through the Florida
Inclusion Network (FIN) to all school
administrators and selected school and
district staff in Quality Designs for
Instruction (QDI)
expanding staff development efforts to
teachers on instructional
Evidence of Change
Goal 1:
The percent of students with disabilities,
ages 6-21, spending 80 percent or more of
their school week with nondisabled peers

Benchmarks:
In 2002-03, the percent will increase to
53 percent.
In 2003-04, the percent will increase to
57 percent.
