The
Florida Department of Education (FLDOE)
is pleased to announce an outstanding
leadership learning opportunity for this Spring. Opportunities are available for two regional
Assistant Principal Leadership Forums
through the Department’s
William Cecil Golden
(WCG) Professional Development Program for School Leaders
. These dynamic forums will each
provide two days of superior leadership development for Assistant Principals. Additional
generous sponsorship is provided by Council for Educational Change partners who support the
Forums including
:
Publix Super Markets Charities, Inc., Carnival Cruise Lines, and the
Lennar Foundation
The Council for Educational Change will conduct the Assistant Principal Leadership Forums,
now in their fourth year, on behalf of the FLDOE, with the same high quality leadership learning
evident in their successful former Forums and Florida Leadership Academies. We strongly
encourage participation by your district in the appropriate regional Forum. The Forum dates and
locations:
April 17, 18:
FORUM 1, Orlando, Embassy Suites Orlando North, Altamonte Springs
May 1, 2:
FORUM 2, Jacksonville, Embassy Suites, Jacksonville
Participation is limited. Opportunities cover the cost of program instruction, materials,
technology, and lunch. Travel and accommodation costs are not covered by the opportunity.
Some Assistant Principal Leadership Forum features include:

Exposure to the professional development opportunities through the WCG Professional
Development Program for School Leaders

All training and support fully aligned with Florida Leadership Standards

Development of a “reentry” plan to apply Forum learning to school improvement efforts

Mentors who work with participants and participant groups

Success Strategies for Instructional Leadership

Networking opportunities with other educational leaders

The Council has considerable experience delivering excellent professional development activities
including the 2004 National Assistant Principal Leadership Academy, the 2003 - 2007 Florida
Leadership Academies, and the 2005, 2006, and 2007 Assistant Principal Leadership Forums.
All received high marks from independent evaluators and rave reviews from participants.
