FUNDING WORKSHOPS
The Florida Department of Education, Bureau of Family and Community Outreach, is pleased to
announce five Florida 21
st
Century Community Learning Centers Funding Workshops. These
workshops have been specifically designed for new agencies and organizations that wish to
apply for 2008-2009 21
st
Century Community Learning Centers funds.
The funding purpose of Florida’s Title IV, Part B, 21
st
Century Community Learning Centers
program (21
st
CCLC) is to provide federal funds to establish or expand community learning
centers that operate during out-of-school hours and that have three specific purposes:
•
To provide opportunities for academic enrichment and tutorial services;
•
To offer students a broad array of additional services, programs, and activities to
reinforce and complement the regular academic program; and
•
To offer families of 21
st
CCLC students opportunities for literacy and related educational
development.
The funding workshops will provide an overview of the 21
st
CCLC grant opportunity, including
requirements and additional information helpful in preparing a 21
st
CCLC grant application.

Any public or private organization that intends to write or administer a 21
st
CCLC grant is
encouraged to attend
one
of the five funding workshops. Agencies and organizations eligible to
apply for funds under the 21
st
CCLC program include, but are not limited to; Local Education
Agencies, non-profit agencies, city or county government agencies, faith-based organizations,
institutions of higher education, and for-profit corporations.
Due to limited space availability, participants must register and receive a confirmation before
attending the workshop of their choice. Early registration is highly encouraged, as we expect the
workshops to fill up quickly. To register for one of the five locations, please visit the following
