This document is intended to assist school districts in the reporting of full-time equivalent (FTE)
students as required by Section 1011.62(1)(a), Florida Statutes. Through this communication
and other technical assistance, the Florida Department of Education is meeting its goal of
delivering high quality services for the education of Florida’s student population within one
seamless, efficient system.
The third calculation of the 2007-08 Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP) requires an
estimate of June 2008 Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) unweighted full-time equivalent
students (UFTE) by school, program, and grade. The July 2007 DJJ UFTE (from Survey 1) will
serve as your district’s estimated June 2008 DJJ UFTE, unless a better estimate can be provided.
If an estimate is being provided, the attached copy of Form ESE 135 should be completed for
by Friday, November 2, 2007.

2. The attached form letter, that certifies the estimated June 2008 DJJ total, must be signed by
the superintendent or designee and submitted no later than Friday, November 2, 2007. If the
July 2007 DJJ UFTE is to be used as your district’s estimated June 2008 DJJ UFTE, or if you
anticipate zero DJJ UFTE for June, a letter that certifies the total UFTE is still required.
Submitted UFTE will be reconciled to the total certified in the letter.
For districts that submit data after the November 2 deadline, the July 2007 DJJ UFTE will
be used as the estimated June 2008 DJJ UFTE.
