?
SUBJECT:
Dr. Carlo Rodriguez Champion of School Choice Awards
Dr. Carlo Rodriguez was an advocate of educational reform and committed to the belief that
school choice was a vehicle for equal access to quality educational opportunities. His
contributions to school choice in Florida and the nation were extensive. In memory of his
passion and commitment to improving education for all children, the Florida Public School
Choice Consortium (FPSCC) has established the
Dr. Carlo Rodriguez Champion of School
Choice Awards
.
Recipients of the award will be determined through a criterion review of nominations consisting
of an awards committee representative of multiple agencies dealing with various school options
in Florida. The influence of an individual and a district may be in one or more of the following
areas: increase in the number of school options, equitable practices for recruiting and/or enrolling
students, innovative transportation plans, effective parent awareness and empowerment
strategies, and raising awareness of the necessity and benefits of school choice.
The Florida Department of Education and the Office of Independent Education and Parental
Choice are pleased to support this prestigious award and encourage the submission of nominees
whose achievements of commitment within the school choice community have influenced the
quality and equitability of school choice.
