To create a Professional Institute (PI) that will provide
equitable, statewide mini-grants for industry certification to Career and Technical
Education (CTE) teachers and professional development activities.

PROGRAM:
Youth Service America
 
  
 
PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
The largest service event (April 25-27, 2008) in the
world, engaging millions of youth and focusing attention on the amazing
leadership of young people.
 
DEADLINE:
September 17, 2007.
 
 
FUNDING:
Maximum award is $2,000 planning grant and direct assistance and
support from Youth Service America.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
 
Organizations that engage youth in service in one or more of the
50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, or the Canadian provinces of Alberta,
Ontario, or New Brunswick.

General Mills "My Hometown Helper"
 
PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
To demonstrate a need in the broader community by
illustrating a helpful, creative or innovative concept that meets a need and clearly
identifies change(s) that can be made as a result of receiving the award.

September 30, 2007.
 
 
FUNDING:
$500 - $15,000.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
 
Eligible organizations include, but are not limited to: schools,
nonprofit homes for the elderly, parent-teacher associations, charitable hospitals
or other charitable organizations, alumni associations, chapters of the Red Cross
or Salvation Army, Boys’ or Girl’s clubs, social welfare organizations,
homeowners’ and tenants’ associations, Veterans’ organizations, organizations
supported by the Government, social and recreational activities organizations,
police and firefighters’ relief organizations, health care organizations, and local
associations of employees.

Kids in Need Foundation
 
 
PROGRAM:
Kids in Need Foundation
 
PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
To provide funds for classroom teachers who have
innovative, meritorious ideas. A project may qualify for funding if it makes
imaginative use of general teaching aids, approaches the curriculum from a
creative angle, or ties nontraditional theories together for the purpose of
demonstrating commonalities. Innovation and merit account for 40% of the
evaluation.
 
DEADLINE:
September 30, 2007.
 
 
FUNDING:
$500 - $15,000.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
 
The candidate must be a K-12 certified teacher working at a
public, private, or parochial school in the subject of the project. Kids In Need
does not fund pre-school projects.

The grant supports youth in foster care (ages 5-18)
and youth who have recently transitioned out of foster care (ages 19-25) in
planning and implementing service projects in their community.
