Announcement of Rule Development Workshops: 2006-07 Voluntary

Prekindergarten (VPK) Providers Kindergarten Readiness Rate

One of the major accountability components of Florida’s Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK)

Education Program is the calculation of the VPK Provider Kindergarten Readiness Rate. These

rates are calculated based upon the performance of VPK “graduates” on the kindergarten

screening. The state’s first Readiness Rates were released in June 2007 (for more information,

go to: VPK Provider Kindergarten Readiness Rate Website - Home).

To get public input on the methodology for calculating the 2006-07 VPK Provider Kindergarten

Readiness Rates and the revisions needed to Rule 6A-1.099821, Florida Administrative Code

(FAC)(to view the rule, go to: http://www.fldoe.org/earlylearning/pdf/rule6a-

1099821as_amended.pdf, the Florida Department of Education (DOE), Office of Early Learning

(OEL) is holding seven Rule Development Workshops (see attachment).
