The Technical Assistance Paper on Implementation of Attendance Requirements for Minors to
Maintain Their Driving Privilege directs school districts to transmit student data to DHSMV at
least once a week. Implementation of these requirements can improve district dropout and
attendance rates. Data revealed that less than five percent of students who had their driver
licenses suspended for excessive absences received a second suspension. Therefore, 95 percent
of students who received a first suspension were never issued a second suspension for non-
compliance with school attendance requirements.
If you have questions regarding your data, please contact Donald Klein, DHSMV, at 850. 617.
