SUBJECT:
School Bus Turning Radius, Weights, and Dimensions
Ensuring access to educational programs requires school districts to safely transport students to
and from school each day. To help school districts and charter schools ensure student safety, we
have attached information from three major school bus manufacturers regarding turning radius,
weight, and dimensions of their buses, and a diagram explaining turning radius. This
information can be useful in planning parking, driveways, routes, and loading/unloading zones
for new school construction and other educational facilities, and for improving such areas at
existing schools. Additionally, it may be useful in planning school bus driver training programs.
Please contact Mr. Bud Fletcher at (850) 245-9795 or Bud.Fletcher@fldoe.org if you have any
questions or need further assistance.
