SUCCEED, Florida - 2007-2008 Critical Jobs Initiative - SUCCEED, Florida -
Crucial Professionals –Teaching, Nursing and Allied Health Programs
The 2007 Legislative session authorized funding to increase the capacity of undergraduate
programs at public and private postsecondary educational institutions in order to produce more
teachers, nurses and allied health professionals to enter the workforce in Florida.
Eligible Project Categories:

Note: This category applies to newly initiated programs that have not had previous student
enrollment.

First Year Expansion to Program
Note: This category applies to those programs with enrollments in 2006-07 and planned
increased enrollments in 2007-08.
3.

Second Year Expansion to Program
Note: This category applies to recipients of a new 2006-07 SUCCEED, Florida, Teaching,
Nursing and Allied Health grant. These projects are not required to increase enrollment in
2007-08 and must maintain 2006-07 enrollment levels.

This initiative aligns Workforce Education Programs with Skill Requirements of the New
Economy as stated in the Department’s Strategic Imperative Six.
Funds must be used to implement a program expansion or new program development that
permanently increases capacity and not to supplant current funding. Institutions applying for
funds shall not reduce funding or the current level of enrollment in its existing program. Priority
will be given to institutions that can demonstrate cash or in-kind matching funds from business
and industry for recruitment, marketing, facility use, or equipment.
