A fundamental purpose of the Institute is to provide
parents, educators, students, researchers, policymakers, and the general public
with dependable and valid information about education practices that support
learning and improve academic success and access to education opportunities for

FUNDING:
$100,000 – $1,200,000 per year. The actual award of grants will
depend on the accessibility of funds. The number of awards made under each
competition will depend upon the quality of the applications received for that
competition. The size of the awards will depend upon the scope of the projects
proposed.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
Applicants that have the ability and aptitude to conduct
scientifically valid research are eligible to apply. Qualified applicants include, but
are not limited to, non-profit and for-profit organizations and public and private
agencies and institutions, such as colleges and universities.

Clean School Bus USA

School Bus USA.
 
PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
The Clean School Bus USA program is intended to
reduce children’s exposure to diesel exhaust from school buses.

Ranging from approximately $75,000 to $250,000.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
EPA is seeking proposals from Local and Federally Recognized
Indian Tribal Governments, state and local governments (e.g. school districts),

PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
The principle of the Charter Schools Program (CSP) is
to increase national understanding of the charter school model and to increase
the number of high-quality charter schools available to students across the
Nation by providing financial assistance for the planning, program design, and
initial implementation of charter schools, and to evaluate the effects of charter
schools, including their effects on students, student academic achievement, staff,
and parents.
 
DEADLINE:
August 6, 2007.
 
 
FUNDING:
Estimated size of award is $150,000 per year.
 
 
ELIGIBILITY:
 
Non-SEA eligible applicants in States with a State statute
particularly authorizing the establishment of charter schools and in which the SEA
elects not to participate in the CSP or does not have an application approved
under the CSP.

PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
To fund research that focuses on creativity to create
simultaneous advances in computer science and creative cognition, creativity
support tools, and engineering design or science.
 
DEADLINE:
September 21, 2007.
 
 
FUNDING:
$10,000,000 pending availability of funds. A pilot project will be
awarded up to $200,000 (total) with duration up to 2 years. A major project will
be awarded up to $800,000 (total) with duration of 3 years. Estimated number
of grants awarded is 30 to 35. It is anticipated that 25-30 pilot awards and up to
5 Major awards will be made.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
Public and private colleges and universities; non-profit, non-
academic organizations; for-profit organizations; state and local governments;
and unaffiliated scientists under special situations.

PROGRAM:
Ray Solem Foundation Grants to Help Immigrants Learn English in
Innovative Ways
 
PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
The Ray Solem Foundation is contributing one-time
grants of up to $10,000 to non-profit organizations that have found imaginative
ways to help immigrants in the United States further their verbal English
language skills through listening understanding and oral communication. A grant
is to be used to continue ongoing work performed by the organization; there are
no restrictions on its use.
 
DEADLINE:
July 31, 2007.
 
 
FUNDING:
Maximum $10,000.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
 
Non-profit organizations.

PROGRAM:
Toshiba America Foundation 7-12 Science & Math Grants
 
PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
Toshiba America Foundation is a non-profit grant
making organization devoted to supporting science and mathematics education in
the United States. Toshiba America Foundation contributes to the excellence of
science and mathematics education by investing in projects designed by
classroom teachers to improve instruction for students in grades K-12.
 
DEADLINE:
August 1, 2007.
 
 
FUNDING:
$5,000+.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
If your association is a non-profit or private school you must
include a copy of your Internal Revenue Service letter declaring your 501 (c) (3)
status. If you are a public school, then you must provide proof that you are a
public school as recognized by an appropriate local or state government agency.
For example, a copy of the state tax exempt certificate could be used to assure
the eligibility requirement.

The National Education Foundation
 
PROGRAM:
The National Education Foundation – Learning & Leadership Grants
 
PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
The National Education Foundation for the
Improvement of Education (NFIE) honors learning and leadership grants to
individual teachers who want to partake in such professional development
experiences as summer institutes or action research; and to groups for such
professional development experiences as action research, lesson study, or
mentoring.
 
DEADLINE:
October 15, 2007.
 
 
FUNDING:
The grant amount is $2,000 for individuals and $5,000 for groups
engaged in collegial study.
 
ELIGIBILITY:
Public school teachers in grades K–12, public school education
support professionals, or faculty and staff at public higher education institutions.
