    SUBJECT:
2006 Legislative Changes Regarding Instructional Materials and Staff Development
    Response: June 30, 2007

The 2006 Legislature passed House Bill 7087 that created a new section of law related to F.S.
1011.67 - Funds for Instructional Materials. The purpose of the law was to ensure that district school
boards have approved a comprehensive staff development plan that supports fidelity of
implementation of instructional materials programs. The purpose of this memo is to provide general
information related to the section of law, and to provide district superintendents a method of
    certification.

The law states that the district school superintendent shall certify to the Commissioner of Education
that the district school board has approved such a plan, training was provided, and the materials
    purchased were implemented as designed.

If you have questions or need additional information, please contact the Bureau of Instruction and
    Innovation at 850.245.9868.
