SUBJECT
:
Florida Public School District Funding Opportunity for the
Tobacco Prevention and
Intervention Teacher Training Project
The Florida Department of Education’s goal of
Highest Student Achievement
is one of the top priorities for
K-12 schools. In order to reach this goal, the Department recognizes that students learn best in a school
environment that is safe and healthy. In order to support this goal, the Coordinated School Health Program
announces a Request for Proposal to provide funding to Florida public school districts for the
Tobacco
Prevention and Intervention Teacher Training Project
. This grant will enable districts to provide quality
training for teachers to implement effective tobacco prevention and intervention programs in their
classrooms and schools. Districts will have the opportunity to develop and enhance tobacco prevention and
intervention efforts. This will enhance student achievement by reinforcing the development of universal
refusal skills in students. Project awards will be a maximum of $60,000 per individual school district or
identified educational consortium.
All applications and proposals are due by May 18, 2007.
The attached Request for Proposal (RFP) outlines the application process. If you have questions or require
assistance in completing this application, please contact Dr. Antionette Meeks or Penny Detscher at the contact
information above.
