High School Feedback Report
and
Performance on Common Placement Tests
Report
Each year, Florida attempts to measure how well its high school graduates are prepared for
postsecondary education. In support of the State Board of Education’s goal of highest student
achievement, the Florida Department of Education is dedicated to a seamless K-20 education
performance accountability system. Important to this system are two annually updated reports
designed to provide districts with information on their graduates’ preparation for success in
college coursework.
High School Feedback Report for 2005 Graduates
The
High School Feedback Report
provides a comprehensive snapshot of 2005 high school
graduates’ academic experience. This report provides enrollment, participation, and
performance data to help districts and schools answer the question: “How effectively are we
preparing students for success in a postsecondary educational program?” Every public high
school that had graduates in 2005 has an online report. Within the report format are pre-graduate
and post-graduate indicators of college readiness; allowing for comparison of school, district,
and state data. The source for this data is the Florida Department of Education’s K-20 Education
Data Warehouse (EDW) for both 2005 public high school data and follow-up data for
postsecondary enrollment. This report provides districts information to assist in compliance with
s. 1008.37, Florida Statutes, which mandates that districts and high schools include strategies
within a school improvement plan to improve student readiness for postsecondary education.

In its second year of release, the
High School Feedback Report
has been expanded to include
information on 2005 high school graduate enrollment in Florida’s independent postsecondary
institutions, as well as out-of-state postsecondary institutions. Comparing the overall statewide
data between 2004 and 2005 graduate cohorts, I am very pleased to report achievement increases
on the following indicators:
9

students scoring at level 3 on the FCAT in Mathematics and Reading;
9

student enrollment in Algebra I or the equivalent prior to grade 9;
9

students eligible for the maximum Bright Futures scholarship award;
9

student enrollment in at least one Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement (AP),
International Baccalaureate (IB) or Advanced International Certificate of Education
(AICE) course;
9

passing rates for entry-level and advanced college Mathematics courses; and
9

passing rates for entry-level and advanced levels of college English courses.
In contrast, the report also identified some areas of weakness that should be addressed, including
the need to increase the percentage of students participating in the PSAT or PLAN and the need
for improvement in students’ college admission test scores.
The High School Feedback Report can be accessed at http://data.fldoe.org/readiness. Select a
district name (Alachua, Baker, etc.) and then a high school to view the report.
Performance on Common Placement Tests Report
The
Performance on Common Placement Tests
report for 2005 high school
graduates is available
online at http://info.doe.state.fl.us/perfCPT/. Student-level performance data can be accessed via
the mainframe as a sequential file or in a formatted report. This mainframe access allows
districts to query and print specific information needed for local reporting purposes. The data for
this report is maintained by the Department of Education's K-20 Education Data Warehouse,
which collects data across years and surveys.
The following instructions are to assist district MIS directors in accessing student-level
performance data via the mainframe. The database name for the sequential file is
DPS##.EDW.PERFCPT.DATA.Y0405 (##=district number), with the format provided below.
The dataset name for the formatted report is DPS##.EDW.PERFCPT.REPT.Y0405. In the event
that a duplicate student record appears in a school report, please note that this can occur when the
Data Warehouse receives variations in student identifiers over time, such as social security
numbers or last name, first name, etc. (i.e., Bill vs. Billy). We ask that districts determine which
data is valid for any duplicate listings. These duplicates were not included in the reports
published on the web.
