PROPOSAL
I am pleased to announce the release of the 2007-2008 Request for Proposal for competitive
projects for the 21
st
Century Community Learning Centers program (21
st
CCLC), reauthorized
under Title IV, Part B, of the No Child Left Behind Act.
The 21
st
Century Community Learning Centers program is designed to provide expanded
academic enrichment opportunities for children attending low performing schools during non-
school hours. All centers must provide a range of high-quality services to support student
learning and development, including, but not limited to; tutoring and mentoring, homework
assistance, academic enrichment (e.g., hands-on science, technology programs), community
service opportunities, music, art, sports, and cultural activities.
The State of Florida currently funds 47 counties, 91 projects, 308 21
st
CCLC sites, and 777
schools across the state. The proposal application and all accompanying forms can be found at

The original and four copies of the application must be received by the Florida Department of
Education no later than Wednesday, May 9, 2007.

grant criteria.
