Commissioner of Education
Class of 2007 Top 20% Commissioner's Letter
?
Summary:
The Class of 2007 Talented 20 senior letters from Commissioner Jeanine Blomberg will be
mailed on April 2, 2007, notifying students of their potential eligibility for the Talented 20 program.
We appreciate the assistance provided by your school district staff and counselors in identifying the class of
2007 students who ranked in the top 20% of their class for the Talented 20 program.
High school counselors play a vital role in helping to ensure that students who potentially qualify for the
Talented 20 program in the spring of 2007 (1) receive a transcript review to verify courses in progress to meet
the eighteen core course requirements for state university admission, (2) apply to several state universities that
best meet their academic profile indicating that they are potentially eligible for the Talented 20 program, and
(3) complete financial aid and scholarship applications.
Below is a copy of the Talented 20 senior letter to be mailed.

Dear Student:
I am pleased to inform you that you may be eligible for admission to a state university in Florida
based solely on your academic performance in high school. You have been identified as ranking
in the top 20% of your graduating class and may qualify for the Talented 20 program.
To qualify for the Talented 20 program, you must:
be enrolled in a Florida public high school and graduate with a standard diploma in 2007
be ranked in the top 20% of your class after the posting of seventh semester grades
take the ACT or SAT prior to completing the first semester in college (no minimum score is
required)
complete all eighteen core course requirements for state university admission
As a Talented 20 eligible student, you would be guaranteed admission to one of the eleven state
universities and given priority for the awarding of funds from the Florida Student Assistance
Grant (FSAG), a needs-based grant. Talented 20 students must meet FSAG eligibility
requirements in order to be eligible for priority funding.
High school counselors are prepared to assist students with the application process for state
university admissions. Please note that while eligible students are guaranteed admission at one of
the state universities, they may not necessarily be admitted to the campus of choice. You may
wish to search www.FACTS.org for information concerning individual universities. You may
also find additional information about the Talented 20 program online at
www.fldoe.org/Talented20/.
To obtain information on state financial aid and scholarship opportunities, including the FSAG and
the Bright Futures Scholarship program, visit www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org. Again,
congratulations on your current academic performance and best wishes for your continued success.
Sincerely,
Jeanine Blomberg

Estimado estudiante:

?
universidad. También puede encontrar información sobre el programa “
Talented 20”
