LEADERSHIP NOMINATION PACKET
The Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership honors the contribution of an elite
group of school administrators for their exemplary contributions to Florida’s students, schools, and
communities. Through their innovative leadership and dedication to academic excellence, Florida’s
schools have increased student performance and established safe learning environments for our
children. Thus, recognizing individuals who make a difference in our schools is a priority for the
Florida Department of Education, and we strongly encourage each district to participate in this
prestigious recognition program.

Each district nominee will be evaluated upon the following key areas of leadership as referenced in
the Selection Criteria:
•
Student Achievement,
•
Community Partnerships and Family Involvement,
•
Professional Development, and
•
Student Services.
Districts may nominate one principal from each of the three school levels: elementary, middle or
high school. District nominees compete only within their school levels. From the nominations, three
principals per school level are selected such that a total of nine (9) principals are selected as
statewide finalists. Out of the nine (9) finalists, one per school level is selected as
a
State Winner.
The
State Winners will be announced in the fall at the Commissioner’s Summit for Principals.
