2007-2008 FCAT Schedule Clarification

 

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide clarification relative to the 2008 FCAT

administration schedule announced on August 25, 2006:

 

 

•

Districts scheduling Friday, March 21, 2008, as a holiday may extend their schedule

through Wednesday, March 26, in order to receive the same 10-day opportunity for test

administration as other districts. To prevent a negative impact on the scoring and

reporting schedule, districts will still be required to return materials according to the

assigned pickup day.

 

•

Districts should not plan spring break at a time that will impact the March 2008 FCAT

Reading, Mathematics, and Science administration. To ensure the validity of

assessment results, all districts must administer these tests according to the same

schedule. The 2007-2008 school calendar must be different from previous years’

calendars due to the statutory requirements regarding school start dates.

Although Department approval is not required for changes to the schedule to accommodate a

March 21 holiday, notification of this change should be reported to Victoria Ash, Director of K-12
