    SUBJECT:
    2005-2006 Matching Programs Expenditure Report

    DUE DATE: October 20, 2006

To assist the Florida Department of Education in meeting Strategic Imperative Seven, Aligning
Financial Resources with Performance, the Community College System must allocate resources
used to improve student and institutional performance.

The purpose of this memorandum is to advise you that the 2005-2006 Dr. Philip Benjamin
Matching Program for Community Colleges Expenditure Report form has been forwarded to
your college’s Foundation Director and Business Officer in electronic format. The revised
Expenditure Report will meet the requirement in Section 1011.85(4)(a), Florida Statutes, to
provide an annual report of expenditures to the Legislature.

Legislative staff and their members are enthusiastic about the capacity of our matching programs
to provide an ongoing source of financial aid for all types of students. They are aware of the
growth of our matching programs in recent years and view the programs as a flexible and stable
way to meet the financial needs of a broad array of students.

I believe that it is important for us to collect and provide this type of information to the
Legislature and other interested parties. We do a tremendous job with our matching programs,
and this data will help document and demonstrate the success of our programs, particularly in the
    area of financial aid.

We have requested that the report be returned to Maybelle Montford
    by October 20, 2006.
    If
you have any questions, please contact her at maybelle.montford@fldoe.org or call

    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
