RE:
High School Algebra Supplemental Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Membership
The 2006 Legislature provided a fiscal incentive to school districts to motivate students to select and
succeed in challenging courses. This incentive is designed to improve student preparation for more
rigorous curricula in high school required by the A++ plan (HB 5005, ch. 2006-27, Laws of Florida).
Section 1011.62, F.S., is amended to authorize school districts to report an additional value of 0.088
FTE for each student in grades 6-8 who completes a high school level algebra course with a grade of
C or better.
The new provision requires that each school receive the funds generated by the
additional FTE reported by that school.
To report a student for this funding, the school district must submit a
Student End-of-Year Status
format record during the Survey 5 reporting period for each student earning such FTE. These FTE
will generate Florida Education Finance Program funding in the following fiscal year. If you have
questions regarding this communication, please contact Keith Neel at the Office of Funding and
Financial Reporting at (850) 245-0405 or Ruth Jones at the Bureau of Education Information and
Accountability Services at (850) 245-0400.
