Administrative Assurances for FLaRE services
This document outlines the features and benefits to Florida schools that request services
from the Florida Literacy and Reading Excellence (FLaRE) Center at the University of
Central Florida. FLaRE is a professional development initiative supported by Just Read,
Florida!
The purpose of this initiative is to assist schools in making professional development a
priority in order to improve student achievement. FLaRE’s services are also designed to
support educators in becoming effective literacy teachers across the content areas with
the goal of helping every student become a proficient reader. FLaRE services are
intended to be part of a broad-spectrum support system for educators who are
implementing a comprehensive approach to literacy instruction. The requested assurances
involve a comprehensive range of actions designed to develop literacy education. The
assurances are an essential step to long-term school change based on research.
