SUBJECT: GOVERNOR BUSH TO KEYNOTE AT 2006 K-12 CONFERENCE AND
INNOVATION FAIR “REFORM – IT’S HAPPENING: SHOWCASE OF
EXCELLENCE”
The 2006 K-12 Conference and Innovation Fair “Reform – It’s Happening: Showcase of
Excellence” will convene October 3-6, 2006, in Orlando. Governor Bush will be the keynote
speaker at the luncheon on October 5, where he will address the state of education over the
course of his two terms in office. Superintendents, school board members, curriculum and
instruction directors, school improvement coordinators, staff development directors, facility
directors, finance directors, all principals, charter and nonpublic school administrators, teachers,
and college administration and faculty are invited to attend this conference.
Other general session keynotes include Commissioner Winn; Mike Feinberg of the KIPP
(Knowledge is Power Program) Foundation, a nationally recognized middle school model for
improving student achievement that has been featured on
Oprah
and in
TIME Magazine
(www.kipp.org); and Kati Haycock of The Education Trust (www.edtrust.org).
The conference will feature 50 schools at the Innovation Fair and over a dozen more during the
break-out sessions representing exemplary programs from elementary, K-8, middle, and high
schools. The remainder of the break-out session presentations includes district perspectives

Department of Education K-12 Conference” block until

a $100 non-refundable registration fee for all participants. Regular registration will end
