    CHANGES IN CERTIFICATION RULES
This memorandum is sent in support of Strategic Imperative One, that each Florida classroom is
staffed by a highly effective teacher. The purpose is to provide information of the recent changes
approved by the State Board of Education in Rule 6A-4.006, General and Professional
Preparation, and Rule 6A-4.002, General Provisions. The rule revisions include changes in the
requirements for college courses in the course analysis certification pathway and in teaching
experience to meet professional preparation requirements for Florida certification. The rule
changes update the requirements and aligns to the requirements of the most critical components of
teacher preparation for improving student achievement as required in the other teacher preparation
    pathways.
The attached technical assistance paper provides a copy of the revised text of the rules. As soon
as detailed implementation procedures are completed, the information will be provided to the
certification personnel that have completed the certification bureau’s training in the analysis
process. If you have questions regarding this memorandum or the attached information, you may
    contact Beverly Gregory.
