SUBJECT:
Performance on the Common Placement Test (2004 graduate cohort data)
The Performance on the Common Placement Test report is now available online at this link,
http://info.doe.state.fl.us/perfCPT/. Student-level performance data for the 2004 graduate cohort can be
accessed via the mainframe as a sequential file or in a formatted report. This mainframe access allows
districts to query and print specific information that is needed for local reporting purposes. The data used
to produce the Performance on the Common Placement Test report is provided from the Department of
Education's K-20 Education Data Warehouse, which collects data across years and surveys. An important
change in the report for the 2004 graduate cohort reflects students’ best test scores from the CPT, SAT,
and ACT exams. Traditionally, the Performance on the Common Placement Test provided first-time-
taken CPT test results for the reported cohort of graduates. Many students retake the CPT, SAT, and/or
ACT; therefore, it is important to report best test scores to present the most accurate data measuring
students’ proficiency on college admission exams.
In the event that a duplicate student record appears in a school report, please note that this can occur when
the Data Warehouse receives variations in student identifiers over time, such as social security numbers or
last name, first name, etc. (i.e., Bill vs. Billy). We ask that districts determine which data is valid for any
duplicate listings, as these duplicates were not included in the reports published online. General questions
about students’ performance on the Common Placement Test or previous years’ Readiness for College
Reports can be referred to Dr. Pamela Kerouac at pamela.kerouac@fldoe.org or (850) 245-9558.
The following instructions are to assist district MIS directors in accessing student-level performance data
via the mainframe. The database name for the sequential file is DPS##.EDW.PERFCPT.DATA.Y0304
(##=district number). The dataset name for the formatted report is DPS##.EDW.PERFCPT.REPT.Y0304
and the following format is provided:

Please note that although CPT scores are important identifiers of students’ performance on entry-level
placement tests for postsecondary coursework, these scores alone are not the only measure of college
readiness. The
High School Feedback Report
provides extensive and multifaceted performance of pre-
graduation indicators and post-graduation indicators by school, district, and state. Last year’s report can
be accessed at http://data.fldoe.org/readiness/ and updates to the data are expected in the coming months.
Both the Performance on the Common Placement Test and the
High School Feedback Report
provide
important performance information and meaningful data essential for decision making, strategic
improvement planning, and action.
