SUPPLEMENTAL ACADEMIC INSTRUCTION (SAI) STAFF
DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE
We are pleased to announce the 2002 Annual Supplemental Academic
Instruction (SAI) Staff Development Conference to be held at Rosen Plaza Hotel
in Orlando, Florida, on October 16-18, 2002.
Four nationally renowned
speakers, Carl Boyd, Richard Strong, Dr. Harvey Silver, and Dr. Willard Daggett,
will offer keynote addresses and clinics.
A special feature this year will be a
panel presentation on the Just Read! Florida initiative, headed by Dr. Joe
Torgesen and the Just Read! Florida staff.
Over thirty 90-minute clinics will be
offered to participants providing research-based strategies that are designed to
enhance students’ academic success. The target audience is teachers, school
administrators, student services personnel, program administrators, district SAI,
ESOL, ESE, DJJ contacts or other personnel who work with the students at risk

of academic failure.
Space is limited to 500 participants, and there will be no onsite
registration.
Registration fee is $25.00 to cover the cost of conference resource materials. Please
make checks or purchase orders payable to the Florida Association of Alternative
School Educators (FAASE).
Complete the attached registration form, include the
registration fee, and mail or fax it to the address indicated in the registration brochure.
Faxed copies of purchase orders will be accepted. Hotel reservations must be made
before October 8, 2002, in order to obtain the special room rate of $99.00 for single or
double occupancy. The hotel is located at 9700 International Drive, Orlando, Florida.
