In support of the Florida Department of Education’s strategic imperative to increase the supply
of highly effective teachers, please find enclosed a technical assistance paper on the Use of
Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum for Meeting Highly Qualified Status in Department of
Juvenile Justice Educational Programs. This document provides juvenile justice education
teachers updated information for meeting highly qualified status under middle grades integrated
curriculum and a listing of middle and high school courses where middle grades integrated
curriculum is appropriate for the 2006-2007 school year.
