In support of the State Board of Education’s imperative to increase the quantity and improve the
quality of educational options for Florida’s families, the Departme
nt is pleased to provide this
technical assistance paper (TAP) on the District School Board Exclusive Authority Requirements
recently established in HB 135. A district school board may seek to retain exclusive authority to
sponsor charter schools within its geographic boundaries. This document summarizes the
requirements for districts and answers questions concerning exclusive authority.
