    SUBJECT:

2006-2007 SUCCEED, Florida – Manufacturing and Automotive
    Service Technology

The 2006 Legislative session authorized $2,250,000 to increase the capacity of Manufacturing
and Automotive Service Technology programs approved at public and private postsecondary
institutions. This initiative will Align Workforce Education Programs with Skill Requirements
of the New Economy as stated in the Department’s Strategic Imperative Six.

Public and private postsecondary institutions are eligible to apply. Funds must be used to
support new students and are not intended to supplant current funding. Institutions applying for
funds shall not reduce funding or the current level of enrollment in existing programs. Any such
reduction will result in a pro rata reduction in funding.

To assist in preparing the application, the Florida Department of Education has scheduled a
    conference call for Tuesday, June 20, 2006, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. EDT. The call in
number is toll free (800) 416-4254, local (850) 922-2903, or SunCom 292-2903. Due to a
limited number of available lines, institutions are asked to make arrangements to call in from one
central location per campus. The purpose of these conference calls is to provide technical
assistance related to the development, implementation, and evaluation of expanded
manufacturing and automotive service technology programs in Florida. All relevant staff
    members are encouraged to participate.
