A++ INFORMATION
Governor Jeb Bush signed House Bill 7087, Relating to Education, into law. This bill has more
commonly been referred to as A++. Its provisions address numerous areas including
secondary reform, differentiated pay for teachers, school leadership development, school
improvement, paperwork reduction, and school start date. The attachment to this
memorandum summarizes the changes made by this legislation.
In the coming months, the Department of Education will be providing technical assistance and
guidance for implementing these provisions. By the end of June, you should expect to see
technical assistance pertinent to middle grades course requirements and high school majors
and credit requirements.
A Web site, www.fldoe.org/APlusPlus, has been developed and will also serve as a
clearinghouse for all A++ related memoranda and technical assistance documents that are
sent out by the department. One feature of this Web site is a Frequently Asked Questions
section, which includes the opportunity to submit additional questions.
