RE:
Registration for the Progress Monitoring and Reporting Network (PMRN)
As the school year draws to a close, it is time for you to register to use the Florida Progress
Monitoring and Reporting Network (PMRN) for the 2006-2007 school year. The registration
forms are now available for principals to register their school at www.fcrr.org/pmrn. The
deadline for this registration is June 30, 2006.
All educators assigned to serve a school as a reading/literacy coach are required to complete the
Coach’s Log housed on the PMRN. In order for the Coach’s Log to be made available to the
coach(es), the principal must register his or her school. Even if a school is only using the PMRN
for the Coach’s Logs, the principal must register at this time. Please see www.fcrr.org/pmrn and
click on the "Registration for High Schools/Coach's Log Only Schools" link.
Prior to registering your school, you must decide if all students in each grade will be progress
monitored or only a select group. Choosing “All” indicates that you would like for the school’s
rosters to be updated by FTE surveys 2 and 3 (October and February).

Memo to All Principals
Page 2
The Florida Department of Education only requires that the PMRN be used for the reporting of
progress monitoring scores for K-3 students at
Reading First
schools and for all Tier 3 students.
If the district’s K-12 Comprehensive Research-Based Reading Plan states that the district will
use the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) to monitor the progress of
its students, then the district would be required to administer the DIBELS to the appropriate
students as determined in the K-12 Reading Plan. For all other students that must be progress
monitored, the PMRN is an option.
The PMRN is available, at no cost, to schools that are submitting progress monitoring scores for
any student in grades kindergarten through eighth grade, as long as the school meets the
following requirements:
?
Students are progress monitored four (4) times per year following Florida
Reading First
assessment schedule.
?
Students are progress monitored using DIBELS in grades K-5 and the Florida Oral
Reading Fluency (FORF) passages in grades 6-8.
?
Assess using professionals trained in the administration of these measures.
?
The District Information Systems (DIS) office is notified of the school's intent to utilize
the PMRN and the requirement that student, staff, and course information be submitted to
the FCRR by the 15th instructional day of the school year.
Note that registering to use the PMRN does not automatically order the assessment
materials.
?
Kindergarten assessment materials are provided at no cost to the schools, as they are
provided through the School Readiness Uniform Screening System (SRUSS).
?
Reading First
schools are provided the first, second, and third grade progress monitoring
materials by the Florida Center for Reading Research’s Assessment Program Office.
?
Non-
Reading First
schools planning to progress monitor first, second and third grade
students must order the assessment materials using the form located at
http://www.fcrr.org/assessment/pdf/sopris/DIBELS200607-123.pdf. The ordering
deadline is June 2, 2006.
?
Fourth and fifth grade progress monitoring materials are ordered using the form found at
http://www.fcrr.org/assessment/pdf/sopris/DIBELS200607-45.pdf . Orders must be
placed by June 2, 2006.
?
Assessment materials for grades six-eight are downloaded from the Florida Achieves
Website at http://www.florida-achieves.com/(bxj5sxudslpjyviuq05au5en)/forf_login.aspx
Thank you for your continued support of the PMRN. If you have any questions, please contact
the PMRN Helpdesk by phone at 866/471-5019 or via email at helpdesk@fcrr.org.
Have a great summer!
