KINDERGARTEN AND SEVENTH GRADE IMMUNIZATION
VALIDATION ASSESSMENT, SCHOOL YEAR 2005-2006
The Florida Department of Education is committed to a seamless education system that promotes
student achievement in a safe learning environment. The Department of Health requested that
our office forward to all school districts the attached information regarding the Kindergarten and
Seventh Grade Immunization Validation Assessment for the 2005-2006 school year. Section
1003.22, Florida Statutes, requires each district school board and the governing authority of each
private school to refuse admittance or temporarily exclude from attendance any student who is
not in compliance with the immunization requirements for school attendance. The Validation
Assessment indicated 2.5 percent of seventh grade students and 1.3 percent of kindergarten
students in randomly selected schools were attending school without proper documentation.
Although this is an improvement over past years, schools must continue to work closely with
their county health department to temporarily exclude and refer these students for required
immunizations or documentation in accordance with Section 1003.22, Florida Statutes.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Darci Lolley, Department of Health, Bureau of
?
Immunization, at (850) 484-5191 or SUNCOM 690-5191.
