CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Innovation Fair Exhibitors/Presenters
Florida Department of Education/Florida Education Foundation
2006 K-12 Conference
October 4, 2006
The 2006 K-12 Conference will focus on (1) innovative approaches to improving
achievement at the middle grades (6-8), including K-8 schools; and (2) secondary public
school career, collegiate, and magnet academies. Chancellor Yecke has expressed the
goal of enhancing rigor at the middle level, and Commissioner Winn has stated his goal
for every secondary public school in Florida to have an academy by the 2009-2010
school year. This conference will be one of the first steps in highlighting the state’s best
model programs to other schools looking to implement such programs of their own.
The first full day of the 2006 K-12 Conference, Wednesday, October 4, will open with a
general session featuring Mike Feinberg of KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program), a
nationally recognized middle school model for improving student achievement. KIPP
has been featured on Oprah and in publications such as TIME Magazine.
Following this session, the Innovation Fair will commence, where 50 schools will be
exhibiting their innovative programs. Schools chosen to exhibit at the Innovation Fair
will also have the opportunity to present a one-hour break-out session about their
academy or program on the same day. We encourage you to bring a team that includes
administrators, teachers, and students.
Attached is a request for proposal form for schools interested in exhibiting at the
Innovation Fair. Please contact K-12 Conference Staff at (850) 245-0509 or
