MEMORANDUM
TO:
District School Superintendents
FROM:
Cheri Pierson Yecke
DATE:
February 28, 2005
SUBJECT:
Reporting Planned Purchases of Instructional Materials as Required by Chapter
1006.28, Florida Statutes
In an effort to increase student achievement and make sure all students are provided with quality
instructional materials, Florida statutes require school district superintendents to report annually
their district’s planned purchases of instructional materials. This report is due to the Florida
Department of Education April 1, 2006, via http://fimweb.org.
As you know, Florida school districts have once again experienced some backorders of state
adopted materials this year. Our continued hope is that with all entities working together,
schools will receive all ordered materials timely and prior to the opening of school in August.
Your district’s responsibility to help alleviate backorders is to report on FIMWeb by the April 1,
2006, deadline and to present planned purchases accurately so that publishers can forecast and
print sufficient quantities.

Please review the enclosed record of FIMWeb reporting contacts. The name of the individual
listed for your district was given to us
last
year. If you would like to change your district
contact, please notify charlie.carraway@fldoe.org and a new password will be assigned. This
district staff member will report your district’s planned purchases of instructional materials for
the upcoming year. Please note in the reporting contacts’ list that several districts never reported
last year, which led, in part, to inaccurate forecasting and subsequent backorders.
Please contact Charlie Carraway by phone at (850) 245-0425 or via email at
charlie.carraway@fldoe.org if you wish to change your district contact information or need
additional assistance with reporting procedures.
