“Asthma Care in Schools”
Workshop
student learning. Appropriate asthma management is necessary to promote school attendance and
support students’ academic achievements. The Department of Health, in partnership with the
University of Florida and the Gulfcoast North Area Health Education Center, Inc. (AHEC), is
planning an “Asthma Care in Schools” workshop for school personnel and school health staff.
This two-part workshop is based on the
Nursing Guidelines for the Delegation of Care for Students
with Asthma in Florida Schools
. It includes a video presentation with demonstrations and updated
information on the use of asthma management tools for the care of students with asthma.
The Department of Education invites all Florida school districts to participate in this important
workshop. The “Asthma Care in Schools” workshop is scheduled to be televised, via the Florida
Knowledge Network, on March 24, 2006, 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time (EST).
