Prior to entering the report information on line, please follow these steps:
    1.
Review the definitions for “elementary, junior and high schools,” and “other firearms” at:
    http://www.firn.edu/doe/besss/pdf/gfsa_definitions.pdf
The federal definitions for “other firearms,” does not contain such items as toy guns, cap
guns, air powered bb guns, pellet guns, etc. In Florida, even though some LEAs may expel
students for bringing or possessing these items, they are not GFSA gun violations and should
    not
be included in this report. If you still have questions regarding firearm definitions,
contact one of the division offices of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, Tampa
Field Division, (813) 202-7300 or the Miami Field Division, (305) 597-4800.
    2.
    ?
Contact your Safe and Drug-Free Schools (SDFS) Coordinator to review the GFSA data
submitted for the 2005-2006 Title IV SDFS grant application. The Title IV SDFS program
requires LEAs to provide in their Title IV grant application, the number of students expelled
for bringing or possessing a gun on school property, including the name of the school
concerned and the type of firearms concerned. The GFSA data submitted in this grant
    application are for school year
    2004-2005.
Since the Title IV SDFS grant application was
submitted in the spring of 2005, before the district went through the 2005-2006 data
verification period, the data submitted may be different from the final district numbers.
Therefore, please submit the most up-to-date information
    .
