    Re: Sunshine State Standards Six Year Review and Revise Cycle
    In order to effectively align the Sunshine State Standards with instructional materials,
    professional development, and the FCAT, the Department worked over the past several months
    developing multiple iterations of proposed schedules for revising the standards and all associated
    components. We then examined each potential schedule with the goals of:

    ?
    ensuring that the tools upon which curriculum, instruction, and assessment rely are
    ?
    aligned in a way to best support student achievement;
    ?
    •
    ?
    ensuring that the schedule will allow the Department to produce the highest quality
    ?
    products and services;
    ?
    •
    ?
    creating the minimal amount of disruption at the district level; and
    •
    ?
    developing a schedule that promotes efficiency for districts.
    Attached you will find the six year review and revise cycle for the Sunshine State Standards that
    was approved by the State Board of Education on January 17, 2006.
