SUBJECT: MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE PARTNERSHIPS – NEW
COMPETITIVE GRANT OPPORTUNITY (UPDATED)
On December 13, 2005 we sent an announcement regarding a competitive grant opportunity for
Mathematic and Science Partnerships. It has come to our attention that there has been some
confusion regarding the methodology for determining high-need local education agency (LEA).
A high need LEA is defined as a district in which
no less than 20 percent of the children are
from families with incomes below poverty using data compiled during the 2000 Census.
We apologize for any confusion this may have caused you.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) for these competitive grants is attached and due on or before
January 30, 2006. The RFP is also available at http://www.firn.edu/doe/curriculum/titleiib.htm.
